A Summer Wedding For The Books
Clarke & Esai got married on a beautiful June day, with the sun shining above them, surrounded by friends and family.
It had been an honor getting to know Clarke and Esai over the course of a year. They are the epitome of yin and yang: Clarke is an outgoing and bold news anchor for a local morning show, and Esai is a reserved, strong firefighter. They balance each other perfectly.
The moment that most stood out to me on their wedding day, was when Clarke gave vows not only to Esai but to his family in Spanish. To quote Clarke, “In a world where non-English speaking individuals are forced to assimilate, I knew I wanted to flip the script by saying my vows to Esai and his family in Spanish. Spanish was their first language. I was absolutely terrified that I would mess up, stumble over myself, or look silly trying to pronounce words that I don’t say on a daily basis…but I did it! It was perfect. Instead of having many of my new family members sit through a ceremony they could only half understand, I wanted them to know my words weren’t just for Esai, they were meant for the generations before him who had to fight to be understood, respected, and honored.”
Her commitment to their new life together as a blended family was truly beautiful to witness. I’ll forever be swooning over this day!
