Amanda and Sean’s Barr Mansion wedding in Austin was one of those rare celebrations that completely transformed a space I thought I knew. I have photographed many weddings at Barr Mansion, but I had never seen the property envisioned quite like this. From the very beginning, Amanda and Sean approached every detail with clarity and confidence, creating a day that felt unmistakably their own.

Amanda and Sean also chose to complete most of their portraits before the ceremony, a trend I have been seeing more often with couples lately. With fewer photographs left to capture afterward, we had the freedom to slow down, experiment, and follow inspiration wherever it led. In Amanda’s case, it led us straight into the bathroom for an impromptu portrait session. Barr Mansion’s bold floral wallpaper might be one of the most charming details on the entire property, and it became the backdrop for some of my favorite images of the day.

Their thoughtful approach extended beyond the details and into the entire flow of the celebration. Instead of moving guests indoors for dinner, Amanda and Sean transformed the ceremony garden into an open-air reception beneath the trees. It turned the traditional Barr Mansion layout on its head and gave the evening a character that felt entirely their own. There is something incredibly special about a couple seeing a familiar space differently and having the confidence to make it theirs.

Golden hour arrived just in time for Amanda and Sean’s portraits, casting the entire property in the softest Texas light. As the sun disappeared, the evening unfolded beneath candlelight, filled with celebration, connection, and the unmistakable feeling of a day created entirely on their own terms.
